Repair Of Leaks, Bushings, Housing, Radiator Fins, Gaskets & Indicators

Our specialized transformer repair services can stop any oil or nitrogen leaks your transformers may have.  We check all gaskets and seals to ensure that there are no leaks (either oil or nitrogen).  We can replace damaged or corroded bushings, repair housing and fins, and repair or replace indicators or gaskets if necessary. 

Installation Of Transformer Fans, Temperature Sensors, Gauges, & Nitrogen Blankets

Fans circulate air around the transformer and therefore cool the transformer oil. Temperature sensors allow a technician to monitor the temperature and perform preventative maintenance before any damages or failures can occur. In order for a transformer to properly operate for a long periods of time under heavy loads or in a heated environment, the heat must be removed from the oil and the transformer. At PowerCom we do that by cooling the environment the transformer is in and by adding the proper cooling fan kit. A nitrogen blanket over the top of the oil will displace the oxygen. This blanket forces the air out of the transformer and keeps the air from degrading the oil.

Test, Analyze, Filter, and Replace Transformer Oil

Periodically, transformers need to have their oil inspected and sent to a lab for analysis. PowerCom performs the inspections and analyzes the oil. After the samples have been taken to our laboratory, we provide accurate results that will indicate if there are any contaminants or unsafe levels within the transformer oil. If necessary, oil filtration or replacement are other services PowerCom offers.

Transformer Rewinding

A Transformer rewind is the complete replacement of all internal parts of the transformer. PowerCom offers a complete rewind, thus keeping the foot print of the original housing to match existing applications.

Terminations

Splices and terminations are based on voltage class and cable types. There is an alternative to hand applied tape layers. Proper installation of force-fit rubber parts, cold–shrink, resins and heat shrink will duplicate your cables system’s performance electrically, thermally and mechanically.

Complete Transformer Replacement

There are times when a particular transformer has been damaged beyond repair.  There are also times where a transformer has been discontinued and the parts are no longer available for purchase. If your company is finding themselves in this position, PowerCom also offers a complete transformer replacement that will fit an existing space.

As your company expands, so does your need for utilities. Old circuit breakers that have been installed may not be adequate enough to withstand the new loads. PROTECTIVE RELAYS

Repair, Replace, & Add New Protective Relays

Protective relays are extremely important to protect your electrical infrastructure. They are designed to calculate operating conditions on an electrical circuit and trip circuit breakers when a fault is found. If these relays are not operating up to specifications then they need to be repaired, recalibrated or replaced. If during our troubleshooting it is found that the relay is beyond repair a replacement will be installed in its place. The addition of relays to an unprotected circuit is also a service we provide.

Test & Verify Current Transformers & Potential Transformers

There are many different components that are connected to the protective relays. In order for the relays to work properly all of these mechanisms need to also be working correctly. The testing of these components including the current transformers, potential transformers and auxiliary circuitry is extremely important. All of these items need to meet manufacturer standards in order for your facility to be properly protected. If they do not meet the standards, PowerCom has trained personnel to fix any problem or replace if needed.

Entire Cable Replacement

Cables are the medium that transfers the electricity from the source to your equipment. If the cables fail it could mean an entire shutdown of your facility. PowerCom offers the service of completely replacing the faulty cable with one that exceeds your current needs and removing the old cable from your premises.

Splicing

If it is determined that a faulty cable is causing an outage in your facility the defective section of the cable can be removed from the cable. A new segment of cable will then be spliced in place of the old one. This will eliminate the fault that was causing your facility downtime.
