SHORT CIRCUIT ANALYSIS
Maximum available fault current is calculated at each significant point in a system. Each protective device is then analyzed to determine whether it is appropriately designed and sized to interrupt the circuit in the event of a bolted type of short circuit. If a protective device is not sized properly to ensure that it can interrupt the circuit in the event of a fault—either rated too small or to large—damage to equipment, property and employees is possible.
